PERMANENCE/IMPERMANENCE: STRENGTH/FRAGILITY RINGS
PERMANENCE/IMPERMANENCE: STRENGTH/FRAGILITY RINGS
Over the course of the past year, the pandemic has changed the way we think, speak, and interact with others. It's also reminded us of the fragility of our lives and how quickly things can change. Capturing this fragility in metal was actually an experiment for me that went really, really right. I created these rings using the ancient art of lost wax casting, and each one is made from both sterling silver and real fabric swatches. Each one has its own depth, style, and personality, like us. Each one represents both the strength and fragility of the human race; the permanence and impermanence of life itself.
These rings are quite wide, so you will need to choose a size larger than your usual ring size for a correct fit. For example, if you usually wear an 8, you'll need an 8.5 to 9.5 in a wide band ring. The only ring in this series that is a regular fit size is the one named "shredded" due to its narrower band.
Sterling silver, lace, recycled sari silk, burlap, patina. 2021.
