A PERFECT MARRIAGE: MOKUME GANE/MARRIAGE OF METALS RUSSIAN WEDDING RING
A PERFECT MARRIAGE: MOKUME GANE/MARRIAGE OF METALS RUSSIAN WEDDING RING
No, you don't need to be getting married to wear this ring! :)
This triple band, interlocking ring is traditionally called a Russian Wedding Ring because of its popularity for use as a wedding ring in that country in the 1800s. Its original symbolism represented the Holy Trinity of Christianity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Today, this unique interlocking ring also represents Love, Loyalty and Friendship, Past, Present and Future, Father, Mother and Child, or any number of personal symbolism configurations the wearer would want it to represent for them.
Mokume Gane is an extremely labour intensive metalsmithing technique out of Japan, one of many new techniques I learned during my college experience (and loved)! Several layers of sheet metal of different types are fused together, patterned, forged, flattened, cut, and then used to create the desired finished piece. Mokume Gane is slow art...the process of creating a small bar takes several days. This particular ring is made up of 15 layers of sterling silver, copper, and shibuichi - all hand forged by yours truly.
The natural rolling movement of this ring over the finger makes it a great fidget or worry ring, and the more you fiddle with it, the richer the outer colours become.
Although this ring is made up of 3 narrow bands, the fit will be closer to that of a wide band. If you normally wear a size 6 ring, you will need to choose a size 7 or 7.5 for a correct fit. This ring can be sized down but not up.
Ring size: 7, will fit like 5.5 - 6
